They’re Heeere! Next Generation Britax Models Have Arrived

Britax fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the “next generation” britax line. The wait is over!

The new Britax convertible car seats–Marathon 70, Roundabout 55, and Boulevard 70, Boulevard 70 CS– have slightly higher weight limits than the older models. The Advocate 70 also holds kids up to 70 lbs. The Chaperone, an infant seat, holds kids up to 30 lbs, and the new Frontier 85, a “Combination Harness-2-Booster” seat, holds kids up to 85 lbs. Booster seat Parkway SG holds kids up to 120 lbs.

The seats also feature new safety technology. You can read about the new features in more detail at the Britax website.

Here’s a rundown of the Next Generation prices I’m seeing.

  • BabyCatalog.com has the Marathon 70 for $223.99 after 20% off discount. Roundabout 55 is $159.99, Boulevard 70 CS is $263.99, Boulevard 70 is $247.99, and Parkway SG is $95.99.
  • Diapers.com is running the same 20% off discount (use code BRITAX20).

The other question on everyone’s minds is “How cheap will the older model Britaxes be?” So far, I’m seeing discounts in the 25% to 30% off range, which is good, but no better than we’ve been seeing since early July.

  • AlbeeBaby has the Marathon in Sutton for $189. The Boulevard in Moonstone is $199.99. Barrington is $209.99
  • BabyCatalog.com has the Marathon 65 for $198 and the Boulevard in Onyx for $218. You’ll find similar prices at Amazon, too.

It will be interesting to see to what lengths retailers will go to (or be allowed to go to) to clear out remaining “old generation” inventory. I’ll keep you posted!

Let us know if you find any hot deals, too!

I’m up for the old model as long as the manufacturing dates are fairly recent. I’ll be watching to see if the prices on those come down at all. Thanks!

  2. Anne says:

Does anyone know when the Moonstone pattern was first introduced? I see it is discounted on most sites and I was wondering if it was an older seat that wouldn’t last as long due to the expiration date. Is there any listing showing what patterns were introduced by year?

    • Elizabeth says:

i called babycatalog about their moonstone pattern seats and they told me they are 2010 manufatcure dates!

  3. Erin says:

My Target had the new Marathons in the store for $199.99 yesterday–regular price, not sale price!

  4. Anne says:

I got an extra 15% off the Britax Marathon on diapers.com with the code “SAVE2011″, great deal!! thank you

  5. Kahla J says:

Any info on the size differences for fitting in small cars? I went to the site and noticed that they no longer had a category for “fits in more compact vehicles.” With the higher weight limits are the seats a lot bigger?

  6. Wendy says:

The seats are slightly shorter overall because the bases are more compact, i.e. the seats sit lower in the vehicle. But the actual shell is the same height, so it will still accommodate the same height kids (hope that makes sense). They no longer offer their more compact seats like the original Roundabout and Diplomat, though. The new Roundabout 55 (which is likely what Target is carrying for $199) is basically the same seat as the new Marathon, just with fewer features.

  7. Erin says:

I just ordered both the Frontier 85 and the Boulevard 70 CS. Some websites had good discounts but the seats wouldn’t ship for a few weeks. I was rear-ended by a truck so we need new seats now, and the other driver’s insurance is paying for them :) We had Britax’s and they kept my children safe in the collision.

The frontier 85 I got for 20% off from diapers.com. I think the code is 20britax. It is listed on their site for all Britax items. Free shipping and no sales tax!

They discontinued the Diplomat? Will someone please let me know if you see any great deals on one? (I was hoping to use that for my daughter, because I wanted to keep the seat rear-facing longer since it was a smaller seat than the Boulevard. I can’t rear-face the Boulevard behind either of my front seats in my smaller car. It worked with my son b/c we got to rear-face it in the middle position!)
