2015 Buy-it-Now Prices for 19 Top Outdoor Toys

2015 Buy-it-Now Prices for 19 Top Outdoor ToysSpring has sprung and the birds are singing–at least here in the South where I am. With the weather improving you may be considering picking up a few outdoor toys for the kiddos. How much should you spend?

Here are the Buy It Now (BIN) prices for 19 of the most popular, highest rated outdoor toys, freshly updated for 2015. The BIN prices are in bold, and I’ve linked to the item at Amazon so that you can learn more.

Use these BIN prices to help you decide when to pull the trigger on a purchase and when to wait. Since these are heavy items, for the most part, you may be able to find them in-store cheaper. Just be sure your car is big enough to handle the boxes!

If you’re new to my Buy-It-Now price lists, here’s what you need to know: “Buy It Now” (BIN) prices are what I consider “very good” prices on the item. They’re the best sale prices you can expect to find fairly regularly, based on records of previous sales. Don’t confuse these with the current price (although they may be the same) or the “lowest price ever” price. You may be able to beat this price if you happen onto a unusually great sale.

Sand and Water Tables

Sandboxes

Playhouses

Climbers and Playground Toys

Sports Toys

And don’t forget: You can save even more on these items if you can find them second-hand at Craigslist, a yard sale, etc.

2014 IIHS Booster Seat Best Bets [And Buy-It-Now Prices]

IIHS Booster Seat Best Bets [And Buy-It-Now Prices]When your child outgrows other forms of forward-facing restraints, it’s time for a booster. But which ones are best?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its latest report last week with belt fit data on more than 100 booster seats currently on the market.

Of the 41 new seats tested, 27 were listed as “Best Bets“(meaning that they fit most kids ages 4 to 8 well in most cars) and three seats were listed as Good Bets (acceptable fit in most cars).

Around eight seats fall into a middle “Check Fit” category (they work in some cars, but not others).

Three seats were not recommended–the Diono’s Olympica and Pacifica models and the Kids Embrace Batman No Back booster.

12 Popular “Best Bets” include seats at a wide range of price points starting at around $25:

2014 “Buy it Now’ Prices for 40 Top Toys [Part 1 - Little Kids]

We’ve talked about which toys have proven track records. Now it’s time to figure out the “Buy Price” for the toys on the lists.

Typically, you can expect toys to go to about 40% off list price around the holidays. Not all of them will, though. Some will only go as low as about 20% off, and the hottest and newest toys may be in such high demand that they don’t go on sale much at all.

Tracking past sales and price histories allow us to estimate the price a smart shopper should pay for these toys. Could the price go lower? Sure. Whether you wait to see if it does depends on your tolerance for risk.

So here we go, starting with toys for the littlest kids. I’ll be breaking the post into two parts due the the amount of info I’ll be dishing up. The links go to Amazon so that you can learn more and read reviews.

Note: The first price is the list price and the second is the recommended “buy-it-now” price. These “Buy It Now” prices are what I consider “very good” prices on the item. They’re the best sale prices you can expect to find fairly regularly, based on records of previous sales. Don’t confuse these with the “lowest price ever” price or event he current price. You can beat this price if you happen onto a unusually great sale.

11 Hot New Toys for Kids 5 to 7 [With Buy-It-Now Prices]

The holiday toy books are out, and this year’s crop of fun-looking new toys can be overwhelming. Which will get played with? Which should you skip?

What makes a good toy?

Good toys have certain things in common. They

  • Can be used in more than one way as kids grow and learn.
  • Let kids be creative. They allow kids to create imagined worlds and scenarios.
  • Encourage extended attention. Kids play with them for more than a minute.
  • Foster  skill development. The best toys help kids build language, motor, social or problem solving skils while they play.
  • Appeal to the senses. They’re fun to look at, touch, and listen to.

I’ve pored through the biggest of the books and chosen toys appropriate for tots five to seven  years old that could easily be contenders for future Toys that Get Played with Lists.

I’ve linked to the toys at Amazon so that you can learn more and read customer reviews. I’m also including Buy-It-Now prices.

Please Note: “Buy-It-Now” (BIN) prices are what I consider “very good” prices on the item. They’re the best sale prices you can expect to find fairly regularly, based on records of previous sales. Don’t confuse these with the “lowest price ever” price or even with the current price. You may be able to  beat this price if you happen onto a unusually great sale.
